Chiropractic care during pregnancy is a safe way to complement your other prenatal care, with the aim of helping your system function at 100%. Dr. Herrst has helped hundreds of pregnant people feel better over the 40 plus weeks of pregnancy as an advocate of movement and alignment through gentle manipulation and pelvic balancing.
Chiropractic adjusting has also been shown to help reduce overall duration of labor and can help make labor more comfortable. Dr. Herrst is an Arvigo® therapist and certified Webster Technique practitioner and can help make sure your pelvis is in it’s best position for letting baby grow and develop. Webster Technique is a pelvis balancing protocol that helps align the pelvis, hips and low back, allowing for proper function of the uterus and it’s supporting structures. Arvigo® therapy also helps support proper pelvic bowl organ positioning and adequate blood flow to all abdominal and pelvic tissues, including the placenta. Dr. Herrst has also done extensive training through the Institute for Birth Healing to learn how to help people strengthen themselves before and after birth.
Follow-up care post-partum is also crucial to your recovery from labor and delivery, plus the new physical challenges of caring for an infant. Your neck, upper back, midback and arms can all suffer from the strain of carrying and holding your newborn. Add breastfeeding and sleep deprivation in to the mix and you have a potent formula for aches and pains you never knew were possible! Dr. Herrst helps you get to know your post-baby body and adapt to the changes of parenthood.
It’s important to remember that your provider is not a chiropractic obsetrician, nor does she practice obstetrics. Chiropractic care during your pregnancy is an additional piece of the prenatal care package, led by your birth provider of choice (Midwife, OB/GYN, etc). Dr. Herrst works closely with your birth provider to make sure everyone is on the same page in helping you have the pregnancy and birth of your choice.
